Who We Are
The Association of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Malawi (AOGM) is a national, professional, non-profit membership association established in 2007. We bring together specialist obstetricians, gynaecologists, residents, and committed practitioners dedicated to improving sexual, reproductive, maternal, and newborn health in Malawi.
AOGM serves as the professional voice of obstetrics and gynaecology in Malawi, providing leadership in clinical excellence, training, research, advocacy, and policy engagement.
We are proud members of the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO), connecting Malawi’s specialists to a global network advancing women’s health.
Advancing Women’s, Maternal and Newborn Health in Malawi
Since 2007, AOGM has provided expert leadership in clinical standards, policy engagement, and professional development, working to reduce maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality in Malawi.
To improve sexual and reproductive health in Malawi through the promotion of ethical practice, clinical excellence, training, research, continuous professional development, and collaboration with national and international partners.
We fulfill this mission by empowering specialists, strengthening professional standards, supporting evidence-based guidelines, influencing national health policy, and fostering partnerships that improve service delivery. Through coordinated professional action, we aim to reduce maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality nationwide.
To achieve the highest possible standards of reproductive health for women and men in Malawi.
We envision a Malawi where every woman has access to safe, respectful, and high-quality maternal healthcare; where preventable maternal and newborn deaths are eliminated; and where obstetric and gynaecological services meet global standards of excellence. Our vision is rooted in equity, innovation, and professional leadership that strengthens the entire health system.
AOGM exists to provide unified professional leadership in obstetrics and gynaecology in Malawi.
Our purpose is to safeguard maternal and newborn health by strengthening clinical standards, supporting specialist development, and serving as a trusted voice in national health dialogue.
